Rules and Proper Attire

YOUTH SWIM TEST

 

Youth 11 & under must have an adult (age 19 and up) actively engaged in the water with them unless they have passed a swim test, are signed in with the lifeguard, and are wearing identification. We encourage all youth to demonstrate swimming ability to the lifeguard on duty.

 

RED - level

        Supervised - Non-Swimmers
        11 yrs & under

        No test taken/didn’t achieve yellow

        The youth must:

  • Be accompanied in the water by an adult (age 19 or over) who remains actively engaged with them.
  • Remain in shallow end of the pool.
  • IFD/PFD use recommended

 

YELLOW - level

       Supervised - Swimmer
       11 yrs & under

       Adult must supervise youth at all times.

       Privilege

  • May swim in shallow end of the pool in water armpit deep or less.
  • At the lifeguard’s discretion youth in this level may go in water above the armpit while still in the shallow end.

GREEN - level

      Swimmer
      11 yrs & under

 

      Test

  • Swim 25 yards, changing body position
  • Tread water-30 seconds

      Privilege

  • May swim in shallow or deep areas of the pool.
  • Youth 8-11 yrs, in this level may be signed in by an adult who remains in the YMCA facility.

 

 

 

 

PROPER ATTIRE

         Females are to wear a one piece bathing suit.

       

         Males are to wear swimming trunks or spedos.
