Y's START

The Stokes Family YMCA in collaboration with Stokes Partnership for Children designed a preschool physical education program.

 

Funding for this program has been provided by a grant from Wachovia managed by North Carolina Smart Start.

 

The program has been created to enhance the quality of gross motor skill development for children age 2 to Pre-K 5.

 

The Y’s Start Coordinator travels to preschool sites for 12 weeks to model fitness program activities for childcare providers to adopt the program into their curriculum.

 

All classes will include music, movement, tumbling, dance, and a variety of other fun-filled activities to develop muscular strength and endurance, cardiovascular endurance and flexibility.
