Youth and Government

Youth and Government- a “Hands-on” experience involving the state government for high school students. It is an educational program that increases awareness of the governmental process and develops skills in the areas of personal development, self-esteem, and leadership. Teens will learn and work on news reporting, writing, debating, and lobbying for or against bills. The teens in the program take a weekend long trip to Raleigh, where the students present and debate Bills in the State Legislative Building. You can get more information at your high school or with Misty Cummings at the Stokes Family YMCA.
